Everyone plays at once
Nobody sits out waiting for a turn. While one person spells, the whole room is voting on sabotages from their phones.

Most party word games need a box, a scorekeeper and someone willing to read the cards. Spellmates needs a screen and everyone's phone. One person spells, the rest of the room does everything in its power to make sure they don't.

No box, no cards, no app store. Open the site on a TV or laptop, everyone types a 4-letter code, and you're playing in under a minute.
Team mode, steals, assists and lifetime rivalry records mean the same friend group carries grudges from one night to the next.
Spell It or Sip It turns misses into sips with a cup meter that overflows into a penalty shot. Or leave it off entirely — every mode works dry.
Spell it, bank it
Nobody goes home. Highest score after the final word wins.
Miss it, you're out
Every miss knocks you out (or costs a life). Last speller standing wins.
Miss a word, take a sip
Levels instead of rounds. Misses cost sips, points still decide the winner.
Up to two per turn, chosen by the audience while the speller has their back turned:
The speller cannot ask what the word means.
The word can only be repeated once.
{seconds} seconds on the clock.
Last letter first, all the way to the front.
Two words back to back. Both must be right.
The word jumps one level harder.
Letters lock as they're typed — no going back.
The room can't see the letters land.
A robot reads the word instead of the host.
Pick a cup size — shot glass, Solo cup or pitcher — and every miss adds to that player's meter. When the cup overflows, they take a penalty shot and the meter resets. If the whole room misses the same word, everybody drinks. Players already have their own drinks; the cup on screen is just the penalty meter. Play it with water and it still works as a knockout round.
Split the room into squads and pick an answer style: strict rotation, free-for-all, or captain's call. Teammates get a limited number of assists to rescue a speller mid-word, and every player gets a steal — if someone else misses, you get a 15-second lightning round to take the points, free tier included. Free to play in the browser. No downloads, no accounts — cast one screen and everyone joins with a 4-letter code.
